Laminated safety glass, a type of treated glass, is used in most modern windshields. This type of glass is often made up of two curved sheets of glass with a safety layer laminated between them. A rear view mirror bracket is mounted to this glass windshield, which is bonded to the window frame. This is the most basic windshield available for any car.

Condensation sensors are typically found near the rearview mirror. When it senses moisture on the inside of the windshield, it immediately changes the climate control to eliminate fogging by turning on the vehicle's internal fans to exhaust all of the moisture. If you live in a humid location, this is a great feature to have.

Two modern developments in car and windshield manufacturing, ADAS (Forward Collision Alert) and LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System) are features that keep you and your passengers safe. The Forward Collision Alert will sound an alarm if you are approaching the vehicle in front of you too closely. It will also automatically slow down your vehicle to prevent a frontal collision. The Lane Departure Warning System alerts you if you are drifting out of your lane or off of the main road.

A heads up display is a high-tech feature found in some modern vehicles. This cutting-edge technology allows a driver to examine important information without taking their eyes off the road to check the dashboard. Technically, the heads up display is a feature of the dashboard that projects crucial information onto the windshield, such as speed and navigation information. Because the heads-up display is projected from the dashboard, there's no need to worry about the system's functioning being impacted by a windshield repair or replacement.
